Mego's Star Trek line debuted in 1975 and was based upon the classic Star Trek television series from the mid-1960s. The figure came outfitted in a red tunic, brown tights and black boots. The tunic was detailed with a black neckband, one gold foil rank stripe on each arm, and a silver foil insignia - the insignia tends to be particularly problematic for collectors of loose figures as it consists of a stiff adhesive gray backing and a thin sheet of silver foil and, while the backing is almost always found on the tunic, as it is well-glued onto the fabric, it is the foil that typically curls, tears, and eventually falls off. Lt. Uhura's sole accessory is a blue tricorder.
